Inspired by the raw organic nature of Byzantine art, this series of large format paintings boldly explores abstraction.

Patches of vivid color float amid a black framework and loosely interact with each other like puzzle pieces not yet joined. There is a sensuality of light that comes through in the abstract assemblage of colored forms that at times feel very primitive. The pictures are intimate and intense. The series got its name because the basic structure of these oil paintings is reminiscent of light streaming through stained glass windows.
